The Debate Program on Animal Protection
The launch of the League Cup Debate Program on animal protection issues was held on May 5, 2010, in Xian, China. The program was launched by the Animal Protection Law Research Center (APLRC), the Education Union for Animal Protection (EUAP) of Northwest University of Politics and Law (NWUPL), and Animal Guardians. It was further co-organized by the Youth League Offices from eight universities, including NWUPL, Xi’an Electronic Science and Technology University, Xi’an Petroleum University, Xi’an Science and Technology University.
These ground-breaking debates, made possible by Animal Guardians, and hosted by the Northwest University of Politics and Law (NWUPL), were attended by both graduates and undergraduates studying environmental law, and are credited with establishing the first-ever student union for animal protection education in China.

In a single year, the research center was able to make great strides by extending efforts in teaching animal protection values and by making progress in research and legislation that promotes animal protection. We can do much more. Students should pay greater attention to animal protection and actively campaign on their behalf, both on ethical and legal grounds.
