Pamplona: Running of the Bulls
The Pamplona Bull Run takes place during the San Fermin Festival in Spain each year from the 6th to 14th July. The running of the bulls is the highest profile part of the festival, and occurs every morning during which six bulls and six steer are released from a corral (a livestock pen), and the sound of a rocket lets runners know they can start to run in front of the bulls. Although it usually only lasts a few minutes, the run is a traumatic experience for the bulls, culminating in them being herded into a bullring where they will be killed in a bullfight later that day.

Every year in Spain over 16,000 celebrations with animal abuse take place. Animal Equality has documented events such as the cruel becerradas and novilladas, revealing unseen images of violence and brutality. Animals are beaten, stoned, kicked and chased by vehicles until collapsing exhausted whilst small calves, less than two years old, suffer an agonizing and painful death. These are just some of the findings revealed during the investigation which uncover the enormous suffering that bullfights force upon animals.
Burning of the Bulls: 'Toro de Jubilo' Spanish festival
A bull is tied to a post by his horns and a plank of wood attached to a metal bar doused in pitch — a highly combustible mixture of turpentine and sulphur. Fiercely hot sparks and embers drip from the burning torches onto the bewildered animal. The distressed bull is then released, thrashing around the ring to the cheers of the crowds. Members of the public are seen jumping into the ring and taunting the bull — adding to his terror and confusion.

The “fiestas” or “feast days” are in honour of the patron Saint of the town and surrounding area, Our Lady, the Virgin of the Cliff. This outrage happens every year between the July 3-11. It’s not the first time that bulls die either drowned or by other causes; they are also chased with sticks and kicked.

One of Spain’s worst “festivals” of animal cruelty takes place in the village of Coria. A bull is forced to run for hours through the streets while villagers taunt the animal and throw darts at him. When the bull is too tired and weak from loss of blood to keep going, the villagers shoot him and cut off his testicles while he is still alive. This horrific cruelty occurs every year between June 23-29.

The animal, after the celebration, is loaded on a truck bound for slaughter. The bull of this year was called “Andaluz”.

China: Chickens Ready to be Cut, Sliced, & Diced
Walking through the streets of Shanghai on a beautiful Saturday morning i come across a little chicken stand at a local market. They sell live chickens there and you simply choose the one you want. Then they will cut, slice, dice, and pluck the feathers at your liking as you watch. I just watched in awe as i saw feathers flying everywhere and the seller laying the chicken down on the bloody cutting board.

Some details: there are 8 milk sheds, 376 m long and 2400 cows total, 400 cows per group. The sheds are cross ventilated and they have double rows. Dry manure is used for bedding, which are done twice a day.
