Overview of Our Work in the United States and Elsewhere
The Compassion for Animals Foundation published The Animals Voice Magazine, an international award-winning animal rights magazine, from 1988-1994 (and it’s still in print today). The publication was so instrumental in moving the animal rights movement forward, particularly in the United States, that heavy opposition was leveled at it.
“If nothing has got you fired up yet to stop the animal rights movement, then this magazine should.” —Rich Faler, Editor of Trapper and Predator Caller
“A reader, who said I needed indoctrination to wildlife, sent me a perfectly obscene magazine called The Animals Voice … [Its] exposé on the fur business [is] the strongest propaganda I’ve seen on the subject in years…” —Fred Le Brun, Recreational Hunter, Sunday Times Union
In addition to The Animals Voice Magazine, The Compassion for Animals Foundation also funded and spearheaded numerous organizations, projects, individual activists, and campaigns.
Prior to its evolution into Animal Guardians, the Compassion for Animals Foundation (CAF) supported the work of dozens of organizations and activists. Founded in 1986, CAF enabled the invaluable work and campaigns that had far-reaching impacts on animal welfare and rights around the globe.
From hands-on horse rescue to undercover investigations of religious cults to the end of fur farms in England — and so much more — CAF has been instrumental in strengthening a worldwide movement for animals for more than 30 years.
The Animals Voice Magazine features investigative reports, educational articles, timely news, poetry and prose, graphic pictures, and more, on a host of issues ranging from the fur industry to veal farming to vivisection to horse slaughter to bear bile to whaling and the list goes on.
The magazine is a collective of the animal rights movement, its organizations and activists, its sounding board and center stage — not to mention an award-winning publication (winner of 4 consumer honors, including the Gold Awards for Best Topical/Political and Best Overall Consumer Magazine for 1988, and, of course, the Maggie Award for Best Overall in Politics and Current Affairs, 1990) in the mainstream industry.
The Compassion for Animals Foundation published the magazine from 1988-1994 — and it’s still in print today.
